About Surgecore

Matt Flood, known by his stage-name Surgecore, is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a passion for music production, drums, and electronic music. His music career started back in 2008, when he started having drum lessons in school and since then, he's never looked back.

Surgecore first started composing electronic music in May 2014, and during the following 8 months, created his debut album Aurora, released in late August 2015. A year later, he released a deluxe edition of this album and an EP of ambient music for a stage production of Return to the Forbidden Planet.

In 2017, Surgecore released the first instalment of a concept album named Terraformation, which asked the question "Who says life started on Earth... and what if it didn't?". The track "Divided Population" was also the first of Surgecore's tracks to be featured on Prog Magazine in November 2017. The album also introduced one of the Surgecore codes which are still relevant to upcoming releases, if you know where to look ;)

In late 2018, Surgecore finished his A-Level studies and released his Soundcloud exclusive EP "Coursework Adventures" showcasing the covers and originals he had made to various briefs, a primary work being Matt's first sound-to-picture piece "Redundancy," composed to The Guardian's video "The Last Job On Earth". In the same year, he joined BIMM Brighton, where he met many of his current clientele. A year later, Matt released his commemorative piece One Small Step to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing..

At the start of 2020, Matt joined the Brighton-based symphonic metal/hard rock band THUDD, in which he plays drums and synthesisers. With the band, he has released the currently released singles What Once Was and Brawl (Fight), and the band have many more to come in the future.
